What a disappointing day! :(
Started the day with a massive traffic congestion in the main road not far from my house. Stucked there for almost an hour because some motorists just don't know what RED means on the traffic lights. *GrRrRr* After that stretch, there were so many casual drivers who drove at 60Km/H on the speed lane.
Reached Palace of the Golden Horses (PGH) at 9:30am and have to park my car under the hot sun. Walked all the way to the hotel's lobby and alas! The TechEd registration counters! Queued for 15 mins only to find that I don't have to -because I can collect my tag from the side-counters.
As I approach the counters, a guy asked me for my name and company. Happily I told him and he discovered that he is not incharged of companies beginning with "S". So he called out to his crewmate, "Oie 'S', you handle it". Finally got my tag and bag.
Called KahFui and he told me that he couldn't enter the pre-conference workshop. So, I made my way to the registration counter again and this time there were tonnes of delegates complaining about not being able to enter the workshops. Some did not sign up, some signed up for Security workshops but asked to attend developers workshops and some... like my case lah.
Waited for half-an-hour for the crowd to clear. Queuing there 'transparently' looking at the organizer crew members grow impatient over each other and to the delegates. I called up my office-admin and asked her to check on our subscriptions. And by the time, it was my turn, everything got settled - my admin tells me, "Eh! Early bird package got no workshop lah" and the lady at the counter points to the screen to show me an unchecked workshop checkbox.
ARGGGGH! This is like what we Chinese say - Chong-Kwai
I have to comment on the not-so-experience organizer. (To me, the previous organizer, Crystal Edge, was much much better). The crew members really need to work on their manners towards the delegates - they should remember that delegates are customers. At one incident, a white-T officer had to settle the problem with a delegate. Sigh!
Anyway, regrouped with KahFui and SzeSiong later and we toured the exhibitors booth (or what's gonnabe exhibitor booths tomorrow) at the Pavillion. Hang around the INETA booth for awhile to wait for SinMin and I later went back to the office. Keep my fingers cross and hope everything goes well tomorrow!
