I've just finished watching Empire of Dreams - a documentary that talks about how George Lucas started his Star Wars movies that revolutionalised the movie industry. It was really amazing to see how he had always wanted his own independent film-production company and how he achieved it through the Star Wars trilogy. It is always inspiring to see someone pursuing his/her dreams.
Although there were many problems and challenges during the production of the movies, he still continued to move on and made many sacrifices. As we all realised, there is always a story behind every successful person. Success doesn't fall from the sky. One will need lots of hardwork and perseverance and make lots of sacrifices to achieve a dream.
Anyway, besides Lucas's inspiring achievements, there were also some entertainment on the scenes behind the Star Wars movie. The original Darth Vader's voice was so funny with a scottish ascent and he wasn't scary at all. There were also complains about Chewbacca not wearing any pants. *LOL* And some of the asteroids in the movie were actually potatoes.
I also found the part where Princess Leia were caught to witness the destruction of her home planet to be hilarious. Everyone was staring at the planet and then someone shouted *BANG* and the planet was gone. Throughout the scenes, there were always someone shouting *BANG* to illustrate explosions. That's really funny.
It is also amazing to see how certain characters and sets were constructed using miniatures, models and puppets. I personally feel a heart-ache when I saw all those beautifully crafted X-wing, Y-wing and Tie fighters get blown to pieces. I don't think they do things like these anymore nowadays as it can easily be done using computer graphics.
I guessed Lucas's hardwork really paid off and it really brought a space-fantasy world to those who have grown up with Star Wars. His efforts have created companies that we all know today - LucasFilm, LucasArts, THX and Pixar.
So, we should never let go of our dreams. May the force be with us!
