Corralitas Drive: Watch Your Step

Photo: Esteban Gonzalez, May 4, 2012.  Gonzalez was taking a walk and caught sight of this tiny, foot-long Gopher Snake, perfectly camouflaged among the leaf litter.  (Click on on photo to enlarge.) Gopher Snakes are not poisonous.  They eat gophers, rats, mice, birds and their eggs.  It seems every May we get a lot of gopher snake sightings. It may be they are disturbed by brush clearance
