Red Car Canyon: Belladonna Lily

Photo: Diane Edwardson, August 5, 2011.  Non-native Belladonna Lilies seem to spring up out of nowhere in Red Car Canyon and throughout the neighborhood.  (Click on photo to enlarge.) Once the flowers have finished blooming, long leaves sprout from the bulb at the base of the stem.  Belladonna Lilies are considered minorly toxic by Calflora, causing dermatitis and vomiting.   Disclaimer: The
