Photo: Jonathan Vandiveer, April 16, 2012.  A gigantic 5-6" long and 1-2" tall, grasshopper visited Vaniveer's yard.  (Click on photo to enlarge.) According to Vandiveer, it was "HUGE! It totally freaked out and simultaneously intrigued my son. It had wings and could fly but really badly, they just prolonged the jump rather than 'flew.'" Learn more about grasshoppers on BugGuide.
