Short.of.Breath.Need.O2

I managed to get a colleague to give an unofficial preview on the upcoming O2 product line-ups today. Fans of O2 will definitely appreciate the new array of models that will be available by the end of this year and the beginning of next year.

I held all of them except the one in the bottom right.

Among the new releases, is a sleeker, more compact Xphone 2 (bottom-left) that will replace the current Xphone model. The size of the new Xphone is slimmer, smaller, looks more elegant and gives a better grip than the current Xphone. The buttons are bigger and put closed to each other. At first glance it may look like a Sony Erricson but the design looks sharper and neater. Runs on Windows Mobile 2003 SE and comes with a 1.3 MP camera.

The other release is the long awaited XDAIIi (top-left) that comes with a chrome, solid look-and-feel. There are more buttons on the device now. In some parts of the world, it is called the MDAIII but I was told that they have not decided a name for it here. The device comes with built-in Wi-Fi and a slideable thumboard. However, the major disappointment of the XDAIIi is that its camera is still a VGA 640x480 and the screen is still at 320x240 despite running on Windows Mobile 2003 SE. It is also heavier than the current XDAII.

The most attractive model among all of them is the XDA-Mini (top-right) that comes with a simpler and smaller form-factor compared to the XDAII. It feels very light and looks superb for a lady. *Most of my female colleagues were drooling over it*. ;) It also runs on Windows Mobile 2003 SE, has phone functionalities and is armed with a 1.3 MP camera. The specifications of this baby is not available as it is only an early prototype model.

The Xphone 2 and XDAIIi will be available sometime in Christmas while the XDA-Mini will be available latest by March 2005. All devices that I played with are prototypes and may differ when they are released.

PS. Thanks to Marauderz for sending me the link to the pictures in MsMobiles.
